Catherine Ford is a British actress, born in Bloomsbury. After her father's divorce from her family, she was brought up by her mother grandparents, and godparents. When she was a little girl, she was diagnosed with an obsessive compulsive disorder. She also experienced anxiety due to the word association. Ford began to become interested in acting during her teenage years she joined the National Youth Theatre. Ford was accepted into the Sylvia Young Theatre School. But after just one month, she decided that it wasn't the right fit for her. Ford rather applied to the Central School of Speech and Drama and was able to secure an acceptance on her fourth attempt. Shaun Dingwall would play Pete Tyler who is a character that was recurring in Doctor Who. Ford's first appearance on television was an episode in 1991 called Surgical Spirit. By the time she graduated, Ford already went by "Catherine Tate". Through the Nineties, Tate could be found on TV in shows including The Bill, Men Behaving Badly and London's Burning. Alongside her usual stage work, Tate was a part of with the Royal Shakespeare Company in 2000-2001. Tate gained not long after her recognition for her stand-up comedies, which were added to Tate's show in the year 1996.
